What is SNAP?

Students Need an Alternate Party is a group of concerned parents and community members working with the Spring Ford Education Foundation in an effort to provide a spectacular post-prom event for all Spring-Ford juniors and seniors whether or not they attend the prom.  This is not just about a post prom party. It is about the safety of our children and our community.

Prom night is statistically the most dangerous night of the year for high school students. Even though you may not have a child who is a junior or senior, we need all parents to be committed to keeping our community safe and free from drug and alcohol-related tragedy.

When is the SNAP Post Prom?
May 15, 2010
The party is immediately following the prom
and ends at 5:00 a.m..

Prizes, Prizes, Prizes!!

You may have heard about the prizes at SNAP. Small prizes are given out daily during sign- ups for SNAP as incentives for our students to attend. Our goal is to give out so many prizes at post prom that every student wins AT LEAST one prize! Prizes include electronics (TVs and a computer), practical (refrigerators and school stuff), teen needs (gift cards for gas, music and food) and CASH. These prizes are given away every hour with the largest prize going off at 4:45 AM.  Student must be present to win.  (This keeps the students motivated to stay at the party until it ends.)

Why SNAP?

To celebrate students' choice to make a great decision, avoiding the destructive decisions that often occur after the prom.

What kind of party?

This party "WOWs" students.  We offer amazing activities and games that are safe for them to play all night long. This is a night to remember with inflatable games like horizontal bungee races, gaming tables, magicians, face painting, caricaturists, karaoke, movies and dancing. Food will be provided, including desserts and snacks, pizza and everything in between. (All events will be chaperoned.)

How much?

Free for students who attend the prom, or who are juniors or seniors at Spring-Ford and choose not to attend the prom.

Did you know?

It costs approximately $10 per student (in the Spring-Ford School District) to host the SNAP party. SNAP relies on generous contributions from the community to throw this party every year...

I f you would like to contribute to SNAP's success check out the Get Involved page.

That equates to approximately $41 per Post Prom attending students.  Our overall budget is $40,000 which may sound like a lot, but if you consider that we have almost 800 kids in attendance and of course, you cant put a price on the most important price which is the price of saving a life by preventing destructive decisions on the one of the most dangerous nights in the community.

Every bit helps.  If we collect $10 per student in the district, regardless of if you have a student in the high school, we have achieved our goal and you can feel great about paying it forward.
